I was going to refer to this in a planned blog entry about fictional movies in other works of fiction, but the announcement over the weekend of Warner Bros.’ planned “Man of Steel” sequel featuring Batman – and the accompanying release of the logo at San Diego Comic Con – prompted me to go ahead and use this.
When the Will Smith movie “I Am Legend” came out in 2007, the big-screen adaptation of the Richard Matheson story was set in some unspecified point in the future.
As Smith’s character patrolled the deserted – of human life, anyway – streets of New York, glimpsed in the background is a huge marquee for a Superman/Batman movie.
That logo is seen in the photo above.
The Comic Con logo for the 2015 Superman/Batman team-up is this one.
So can we expect the end of the world in 2015?
As long as I get to see the “Avengers” sequel first …

We just rewatched I Am Legend this past week, randomly, and we saw the Batman/Superman logo and thought we had some reality tweaking occurring on a grand scale lol. I’m glad I wasn’t projecting my new obsession with the upcoming movie onto what I was seeing. Thanks for blogging about this. I was starting to wonder if we slipped into a wormhole and… instead by happy happenstance we just rewatched it at the exact perfect time to enjoy the “future” coming true xo!
